More information on Dagu Fort
From a distance, this site of historical significance looks rather insignificant, resembling nothing more than a mound of earth. However, upon closer inspection one sees that this mound is fortified with a rusted cannon and an old warplane. Built during the Ming dynasty (1368-1644) along the Hei River, 60 kilometers away from Tianjin, as a defense against an invasion from the Bohai Gulf, the fort has witnessed better days. Nevertheless, it represents history and is worthy of an afternoon and maybe two or three snapshots.
