Baba on Cowley Road is another new bar aiming to tempt Oxford's affluent drinkers. In direct competition with the Baby Bar a little further up the road, Baba offers chrome styling and a Middle-Eastern look, whereas its rival is more conventional. The back room is an intimate space for quiet drinks with friends, but can be a living hell if another group decides to start shouting. Less affected than Baby, Baba is trendy without being oppressively so and is a place in which to enjoy yourself rather than just be seen.
