More information on Casa Colorada y Museo de Santiago
This was built in 1769 by Joseph de la Vega and is one of the best-preserved colonial houses in Santiago. It is also a National Monument. It's name derives from the red brickwork on the first floor and the red stucco on the second. Today it functions as the Museum of Santiago: a library that covers pre-Hispanic Santiago up to the period of the republic. It is also the headquarters of the Santiago Municipal Tourist Office. Entrance is free on Sundays and holidays; otherwise admission is $200 for children, $300 for students and pensioners and $500 for adults.
