More information on The Khyber
This is a perfect name ("The Window") for what was once a castle and is now a hotel on the hillside of the Old City, overlooking the Mediterranean. What is more, the hotel, peaceful as it is in itself, is one of the best places to get tickets for clubs featuring music. The present owners have succeeded in decorating the hotel very stylishly with a mixture of clever lighting, beautiful fittings, and Asian objets d'art. The rooms are painted in wonderful, almost Indian colors, and have great beds with floating canopies of white net. All include bathrooms, and some even offer French doors opening onto balconies. The downside? Readers have complained about lack of water pressure in summer. There's a terrace on the roof with wide Moroccan-style sofas and an amazing view of the Old City and the sea beyond.
