Starting around Ste-Catherine Street and moving northwards, the St-Denis Street pedestrian will pass through the perennially popular bars and restaurants of the Latin Quarter, and up a sizeable hill into the heart of the Plateau Mont-Royal. Bars and restaurants abound here as well, and many feature outdoor areas for eating, drinking and wasting time. Generally speaking, nightlife get louder and larger as one moves north. All manner of shops and services are found between Sherbrooke Street and Mont-Royal Avenue, mostly catering to a mid or upscale French clientèle.
