More information on Coppet and its château
The château is a two-minute walk from Coppet station, in the direction of the lake. Built in 1767, it was once home to Jacques Necker, finance minister under Louis XVI of France, and to Mme. de Staël, whose literary circle put Coppet on the map. Inside, the original decor and furniture make a visit worthwhile. Then walk down the hill and soak up the peaceful atmosphere of the narrow streets and arcades of this 13th-century hamlet. For a different perspective on the lake, or to catch the boat back to Geneva, head towards the port. Keep in mind that the place is closed from November to March.
