Der traditionsreiche Advents- und Weihnachtsmarkt Innsbrucks gehört zu den schönsten Österreichs: Vor der Kulisse der mittelalterlichen Altstadt, die zur Adventzeit meist tief verschneit ist, bieten zahlreiche Standln Handarbeiten und Souvenirs an. Die Kiebachgasse wird als 'Märchengasse' dekoriert und lädt kleine Besucher zu Erkundungsgängen ein. Außerdem sorgen Mitglieder der städtischen Blasmusik täglich um 17:30 vom Stadtturm aus für weihnachtliche Klänge. Zur Stärkung werden an allen Ecken regionale Schmankerln wie die Schupfnudln (herzhafte Kartoffelnudeln mit Speck und Kraut) angeboten. Noch heißer begehrt (und zubereitet) ist die Tasse Glühwein, die nicht nur die Hände wärmt; Nicht von ungefähr heißt der Christkindlmarkt bei vielen Einheimischen 'Glühkindlmarkt'.
