More information on National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame

Across the road from the famous Saratoga Race Course, this midsize museum pays tribute to 3 centuries of thoroughbred racing in the U.S. Trophies, memorabilia, artworks, and film tell the story of the sport that grips the attention of so many in Saratoga during summer race season. The Hall of Fame celebrates the greatest names, both jockeys and horses, in the sport's history. Uniforms and artifacts are on display, and interactive screens allow visitors to relive great moments in racing. The museum is mostly for true fans, though even those without much interest in horse racing can pick up some interesting tidbits (including facts that kids are likely to enjoy and ponder). For example, did you know that the average racehorse weighs 1,000 pounds? And whereas a Ferrari can go from zero to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds, a racehorse can accelerate to 42 mph in just 2.5 seconds. The museum is unlikely to detain you for more than 45 minutes. Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice.
