More information on Fushimi-ji Temple

In the midst of the Teramachi area, which has more than 70 Buddhist temples, this particular one is dedicated to Imohori Togoro, the Nara era potato digger who was responsible for naming Kanazawa. Statues of himself and his wife are in the precincts, as well as at his grave. The temple has a noteworthy legacy from the Heian era: a copper image of Amida replete with gold plate embellishment.
