There may be no more fitting place to honor the nation's 16th president on his birthday than the Lincoln Memorial, one of the city's most inspiring monuments. Each February 12, the nation pays homage to Abraham Lincoln with a wreath-laying ceremony and a reading of his famous Gettysburg Address. The event is free.
