More information on Warm Nights at the Municipal Theatre
Like the mythical Phoenix, Lima's municipal theatre has been reborn from flames. The historic theatre, an icon in the capitol city for eight years, was destroyed by a devastating fire in 1998. The theatre has since undergone the first stages of its multi-year, multi-million dollar reconstruction. Guests now sit on folding chairs rather than luxurious boxes, but spirits remain high and the site remains a top destination for plays and concerts. During the rainy season, guests are advised to dress warmly since the structure remains open-air; but December, with its mild weather, is the perfect time to catch an al fresco performance.
