More information on Washington Monument

One of the most famous monuments in the United States, the Washington Monument stands tall over the reflecting pool in the capitol. Completed in the late 1800s, the marble obelisk stands at over 550 feet tall and remains one of the tallest structures in the United States. Over 800,000 people visit the monument each year, and many enjoy riding the elevator to the top for views of the capitol, Maryland and Virginia.
