More information on Mill City Museum
Set 2.5km (1 1/2 miles) west of Ironbridge, on the outskirts of the hamlet of Buildwas, this ivy-draped, half-timbered coaching inn is from 1620. Resident proprietor Janet Hedges will tell you unusual stories about the house, such as the 365 nails (one for every day of the year) that hold together the planks of the front door or the fact that the building's front porch was removed from the nearby abbey. Rooms are genteel and comfortable, sometimes with touches of Edwardian drama (lavishly draped beds, in some cases). Others have exposed beams, and all have creaking floors and uneven walls that testify to the age of the building. Rooms are small but snug, and each is individually decorated. The compact bathrooms are efficiently organized, each with a shower or tub. Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice.
