Musical Festivals abound in Puerto Rico. The month of November brings out some of the best musical talent during the Puerto Rican Music Festival in Ponce. It is your opportunity to enjoy the island's unique sounds such as "cuatro," an instrument similar to a guitar but with only four strings. Efforts to preserve native Taino Indian traditions are celebrated with performances, music and ceremonial dances. Listen to Plena and Bomba, two very distinct island rhythms.
