More information on Old Mission Santa Barbara

This historic Spanish Franciscan Mission is was founded on December 4, 1786 and today is the only mission in Santa Barbara that has always been under the leadership of the Franciscan Friars. Outside of the Mission, visitors will find a beautiful fountain, a vibrant rose garden, and a cross dedicated to Father Junipero Serra. Inside the chapel, breathtaking paintings adorn the walls above rose-colored pews, and an ornate alter. Self-guided tours are available daily, and docent-lead tours may be arranged by appointment.
