More information on Santa Maria in Portico
This church is now known as Fontegiusta and it is the late 15th century work of two natives of Como, which was not so unusual for Tuscany. However, it is not the architecture that captures the visitors attention, but a fresco of an unusual subject, Sibyl predicting the coming of Christ to Augustus. Although it was maintained for a long time that this was the only fresco by Peruzzi in the city, it has now been attributed to Daniele da Volterra.
