More information on Kenmare Heritage Centre
Housed within the Kenmare Tourist Office, this exhibition tells the town's history. It is divided into seven theme areas: Kenmare lace, famous visitors, the Nun of Kenmare, the Famine, and landlords. You may read the exhibit descriptions or opt for the free cassette sound tour (available in English, French, or German). The tourist office also provides maps for the Heritage Trail. This trail takes about 40 minutes to complete and brings you to the 13 historical sights found within the town. Well worth doing, the trail has an interesting collection of stops that span Kenmare's long history including a Druid stone circle and Cromwell's Bridge. Admission rates are: adult EUR2.50; students/senior citizens EUR2.
