Real Traveler reviews for Jerusalem
More information on Jerusalem
A holy city to the world's Jews, Christians and Moslems, Jerusalem is an incredibly special place. The saying goes that when God created the world he gave it 10 portions of beauty and bestowed nine of them on Jerusalem. With its white, stone buildings, pink light at dusk and fantastic views (the city is built on several hilltops), Jerusalem has a magic all of its own. Jerusalem's most interesting feature is its inhabitants. Cross from the ultra-Orthodox Mea Shearim, to the bustle of Mahane Yehuda Market, from the intensity of Damascus Gate, to the quiet hills of Ein Kerem, from prayertime in the Old City to the secular playground of Emek Refaim street and you will feel like you have visited six worlds in one day. Buses and sheruts (service taxis) leave frequently from Tel Aviv and the journey takes less than an hour.
