More information on Fredensborg Slotspark
The magnificent park that lies by Fredensborg Slot was laid out by Jardin, the model being the park at Versailles. The park consists of seven wide avenues that all start at the castle and run down to lake Esrum. The park's several gardens include Marmorhaven and Den Reserverede Have, with many fine sculptures. The Orangerie, a wonderful market garden in a post-modern architectural style, is also worth seeing. Very close to lake Esrum you will find Skipperhuset, a building erected by Frederik IV as a boathouse for the royal yachts. The park is only open during the summer months from dawn to dusk.
