More information on Pegge Hopper Gallery (The)
One of Hawaii's best-known contemporary artists, Pegge Hopper is famous for her sensuous, vibrant renditions of huge Polynesian women, "earth mothers" if you will. This airy two-story gallery is located in a historic building on the fringes of Chinatown. It features her original paintings ($10,000 and up) and more affordable limited edition prints, posters and novelty items featuring her work. Inexpensive gift and souvenir items include T-shirts and greeting cards. Though it's a bit off the beaten path, this store is a good place for art aficionados to visit.
