More information on Prudential Center Christmas Tree Lighting
In the minds of many Bostonians, this event officially begins the holiday season. The Prudential Center tree is guaranteed to be one of the largest decorated trees in the city. Every year a gigantic tree is given to the city of Boston by the people of Halifax, Nova Scotia, as thanks for the aid that Boston gave that city after a devastating explosion in 1917. The lighting, which takes place on the first Saturday of December at 4p, is usually followed by caroling.
