Erected in 1915 for the Panama-Pacific International Expo, the Palace of Fine Arts is a picturesque architectural structure which many people consider to be one of the most photogenic sites in the city. The Palace enjoys its prime location at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge and boasts tranquil grounds and a striking ambiance that recollects the Romans. In the gallery area inside, visitors will find the Exploratorium-- a science museum for all ages-- and Palace of Fine Arts Theatre, a 1,000 seat auditorium that hosts events from famous speakers and poetry festivals to music concerts galore.
