More information on Brimham Rocks and Moor
Owned by the National Trust, Brimham Rocks are situated northwest of York and you can drive there, from York, in about an hour. These spectacular rock formations, which were formed 300 million years ago, are ensconced within 387 acres of land. The moors are home to an amazing variety of grouse, birds and animals such as red deer. Hares and rabbits can also be found. The rocks are perfect for climbing, children absolutely love them, but parents be warned - it can be slippery and a firm grasp of little hands is needed. Visitors are requested to keep their dogs on leads during April, May and June to avoid upsetting nesting birds.
