More information on Bar des Pins

Its current moniker is the result of an ill-conceived attempt to revamp this decades-old tavern; for most it will always be the Brasserie des Pins. With orange Formica tables, free peanuts, video gambling terminals and cheap pitchers of Molson Export, Bar des Pins is Montreal's prototypical blue-collar watering hole. The crowd is a 50-50 split between hard-drinking locals and hard-drinking university students; somehow they get along famously. While certainly not the place for an elegant highball (they only sell beer anyway), it is a reassuring glimpse into Montreal's social underbelly.
