More information on Iglesia de la Madre de Dios del Carmen
On arriving in San José, you will see a turning opposite the church that leads to the village of Es Cubells. This area in the south of the island is a pleasant car ride away, and when you arrive you will find two small bars and the church next to the Es Cubells Convent, also known as Casa de Ejercicios de Santa Teresa (or the Santa Teresa retreat). The church is fairly modern - it was built between 1941 and 1958 - but it follows the basic style of traditional Ibiza architecture. The present building incorporates a former chapel that has become the church's chancel. There are no visiting hours as such, but you can enter during mass which takes place on Su at 5:30p.
