More information on Esther Claypool Gallery
Like the Ballard/Fetherston Gallery, Claypool's two-year old gallery has mastered the art of turning the ordinary ever so slightly askew. Scott Fife's costume sculptures, evocative of Dior's "New Look," appear to be silky ballgowns, until you realize that the frozen "fabric" is constructed from archival cardboard and acrylic. It makes for delightful confusion. The Esther Claypool Gallery's focus is on one-dimensional art; however, curators are open to any media, from sculpture to pen-and-ink drawings.
