Kite enthusiasts should not miss this colorful annual event held on a Saturday in late March on the National Mall and the grounds of the Washington Monument. Kites of all shapes and sizes are entered and flown for ribbons and prizes. To compete, simply show up with your kite between 10am-noon and register near the Washington Monument. Or just sit back and watch the kites dance in the sky. It is truly something to see.
