More information on Theatre of the Russian Army (Teatr Rossiiskoi Armii)
This theatre has been through several names during its history, all of them in some way linked to the word army. First it was the Theatre of the Red Army, then Theatre of the Soviet Army and finally Theatre of the Russian Army. The theatre was founded in 1929 as a propaganda tool to promote the successes of the Red Army. In the 30s, the theatre became the owner of a unique building in a shape of a five-point star; inside there are ceiling paintings glorifying the Soviet Army. In the past there was an underground passage-way running straight to the Kremlin. It's the largest drama theatre in Europe - believe it or not, the stage has played host to real tanks and huge models of ships. Now the theatre's repertoire includes both Russian plays and Western classics.
