If you fancy combining a family day out with a good old-fashioned English dining experience then Romany's is certainly worth the journey, whether you just want a quick coffee or a full meal. The restaurant is part of a massive garden centre complex in South Manchester - with its own miniature steam railway - that has become a major tourist attraction its own right. There is a lunchtime blackboard menu served daily, except Sundays, until 2:30p. Main meals are served between noon and 5p, including many meat, fish and vegetarian choices, and a children's menu is available. Breakfasts are served from 9am and the full (2 course) English is great value. Traditional Sunday lunch is available, while the excellent home-made desserts include such specialities as strawberry shortcake.
