The Metropolitan Museum, also known as "The Met," houses over 2 million works of art in its permanent collection alone, making it one of the most important museums in the world. From ancient times to present day and from many cultures around the world, the museum's diverse collection and special exhibitions make this a must see for art lovers. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is located on the edge of Central Park, with a special branch known as The Cloisters located at Fort Tryon Park, housing artworks from the Middle Ages in Europe.
