This modern complex features office towers, as well as a shopping plaza and dining complex inside and a marina overlooking the Hudson River. Located across the street from the former site of the World Trade Center, the World Financial Center sustained major damage when the twin towers were destroyed by terrorists on September 11, 2001. Designed by architect Cesar Pelli and first opened in 1988, the World Financial Center has become a popular destination in lower Manhattan.
