The Miami/Bahamas Goombay Festival commemorates the early black settlers who came to Florida from the Bahamas. Held at Coconut Grove every June, the fest celebrates the arts, culture, music and history of the Bahamas. Ever since the 1970s, this event has been drawing in hundreds of vendors and visitors. Come and watch the vibrant, lively and colorful parade explode onto the streets, or dance to the happy beats of local bands and the Royal Bahamian Police Pop Band. Enjoy the festivities even more, by sampling some of the delicious authentic cuisine like the favorite Conch fitters and Goombay Punch.
