More information on Betsy Ross House

This famous museum once housed Betsy Ross, an upholsterer who is also known as the first person to create the American Flag. As legend goes, George Washington asked Betsy Ross to create a flag based on his sketch, a flag with thirteen red and white stripes based on the 13 colonies at the time. Betsy suggested using 5 pointed stars as opposed to the 6 pointed stars that Washington suggested and he agreed. Betsy went on to create flags for the rest of her career. The museum is located in a 18th Century house that Betsy lived in from 1773 to 1785.
