Elderly members of the Chinese community gather here, many in blue Mao suits and clutching binoculars, to catch a glimpse of an old Beijing art form. This Peking opera show is real China, even if the performers have lost a bit of luster with the passing years. The performers wear traditional costumes and sing to an audience that cares about an old style of singing threatened by pop-star upstarts and youth culture.
