Description

Revel in the exquisite features of the Cathedral of the Madeline as gargoyles watch from 185-foot towers. The Romanesque structure with a Gothic interior displays elaborate stained glass windows, woodcarvings, murals, and shrines. You may also visit the Chapel of our Lady of Zion, which houses original stained glass windows and statues, or view the Baptismal Font, a beautiful structure made of Carrara onyx and glass mosaic. The Cathedral Bells are rung and pealed to announce worship services, celebrate joyous occasions, or call mourners to prayer. The construction of the Cathedral of the Madeline began in 1899 and was completed in 1909; it has seen renovations over the years to restore and protect its magnificence, and it is listed on both the Utah and national registers of historic places. Tours of the cathedral are conducted on Sundays at 12:30pm and last approximately 45 minutes to an hour.
