Locally known as the "only railway station without a rail." its clock tower is a beautiful sight, deeply engraved in the minds of older day-ferry passengers as a defining and romantic element of a trip to Penang. The building was completed in 1907 and houses a ticketing booth where ferry and train tickets for overland services are on sale. Its facade and interiors are in strict keeping with railway architectural flavors of the British colonial era. Today it houses the Customs Department.
