This is one of those rare places where you visit because you think it will be a good educational outing, and are pleasantly surprised by the amount of entertainment that is on offer, for both adults and children. It's the world's largest collection of live honeybees, which you can see living and busily working in 20 different colonies. Bees will nest almost anywhere and here you can find them in places as diverse as a huge hollow tree and an old red pillar box. There are large exhibition halls here, where you can press buttons so that the walls open up, showing the bees at work behind sheets of safe plate glass. There are also fascinating videos if you want to go into the educational aspects of honey and candle-making. There's a cafe and a shop and the Devonshire honey icecream is certainly recommendable.
