This Pacific Museum of the Earth is housed in the Department of Earth and Ocean Sciences in the main building of the University of British California in Vancouver. Its three galleries illustrate the nature of minerals in layman's terms. The Discovery Gallery is an introduction to rocks, minerals, ores, gems and crystals. The main gallery explains the role minerals play in our health and surroundings. The vault gallery is a treasure trove of gold, silver and platinum samples, gems, gem art, and mineral hoards. It is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
