Named after Turgenev's story about a dumb yard-keeper Gerasim who had drowned his dog Mumu at the order of his landowner's wife, the cafe even has the figures of these characters sitting in one of the halls. The atmosphere is very quiet and cozy. Comfortable seats, big green lampshades in the dinner-hall, strict and business-like furniture in the bistro-hall. Middle European cuisine combines with traditional Russian meals (like herring with boiled potatoes). Lots of kinds of soups are on the menu - from Finnish salmon soup to French clear soups. Various fish (trout in wine) and meat (steak with bacon) dishes are available for your consumption. There's a wide choice of alcoholic drinks, including one called 'Gerasim'.
